Who We Are
The Credit Card Compass was founded by Erin — a sales professional turned entrepreneur with a background in healthcare and a lifelong immersion in the world of personal finance. Her husband owns and operates a wealth management firm, which means dinner table conversations about interest rates, investment vehicles, and financial products have been a constant for years.
That proximity to the financial industry gave Erin a clear-eyed perspective on something most people find overwhelming: how to actually evaluate a credit card beyond the flashy sign-up bonus. She built The Credit Card Compass because the sites that dominate Google search results tend to prioritize whoever pays the highest commission — not whoever has the best card for you.
Our mission: Help everyday people make smarter decisions about credit cards through honest, independent information — written by someone who actually understands the financial products she's reviewing.
Why We Built This
Years of watching clients, friends, and family make suboptimal credit card decisions — paying annual fees on cards they weren't maximizing, missing out on sign-up bonuses they qualified for, or carrying the wrong card entirely for their spending habits — made one thing clear: the information gap is real.
Most people pick a credit card the same way they pick a phone plan: they go with something familiar, ignore the fine print, and leave value on the table. The Credit Card Compass exists to fix that — with clear, honest breakdowns of what each card actually costs, what it actually earns, and who it's actually right for.
What Makes Us Different
We are not a content farm. We do not publish fifty cards a week to chase search traffic. Every card on this site has been researched carefully and evaluated against the same objective criteria — annual fee value, rewards rates, sign-up bonus, travel protections, and redemption flexibility.
Our AI-powered quiz goes further than any other comparison tool we've seen: it factors in your home airport, your top travel destinations, and which airlines actually fly your routes — then weights card recommendations accordingly. That level of personalization doesn't exist anywhere else.
We are based in Omaha, Nebraska. We are a small, independently operated site. And we are genuinely trying to give you the same advice we'd give a friend.
How We Make Money
The Credit Card Compass earns revenue through affiliate partnerships. When you apply for a credit card through a link on our site and are approved, we may receive a commission from the issuer or affiliate network. This is how most credit card comparison sites operate.
What makes us different is that commissions do not influence our ratings. We evaluate every card on its merits first — the affiliate relationship comes after. For our full transparency policy, see our Affiliate Disclosure page.
